In short, my name is James Madison Hyer and I’m a statistician who lives in Columbus, OH, USA.  I love shooting film (and digital) and have not been satisfied with the information out there.  I’ve started this site in hopes of inspiring people to try film and for those that are already shooting, to be an informational resource they can use to cultivate a their love and skill.

I started shooting film back in the 90’s when my aunt gave me a Minolta X-370.  I was just a kid and would take pictures of most anything and everything.  I continued to use that camera when I went to college in the 2000’s and while there it was stolen.  Since then I’ve picked up several other cameras and lenses.  Namely, two Nikon F2s and a Pentax K1000 as my 35mm cameras. Also, a Mamiya RB67 with a 90mm f/3.8 that I inherited from a family friend who was a photographer in the US Navy.  Last but not least, my newest acquisition is a Mamiya 645 Pro TL that I’ve managed to get 3 lenses for already.
